The architectural and design work of the Italo Rota Building Office has focused for over thirty years on a constant and advanced cross-disciplinary research, from contemporary art to robotics, for the definition of innovative projects where humanistic beauty and sustainability become integrated and disruptive elements.
The application of the most advanced technologies, in collaboration with laboratories, studies, international universities prefigures new systems for living designed for the city of the “extreme present”.
The Studio is based on a renewed balance between art and science, which is expressed in a poetic that transcends projects, in search of that new feeling of beauty, which according to Gardner, reflects three basic criteria: “the ability to generate interest, the assumption of a memorable form and the aptitude to arouse further exploration ”.
Italo Rota (1953, Milan) graduated from the Milan Polytechnic. After winning the competition for the interior spaces of the Musée d’Orsay, in the late eighties, he moved to Paris, where he signed the renovation of the Museum of Modern Art at the Pompidou Center, with Gae Aulenti, the halls of the French School at Cour Carré of the Louvre, illumination of the Notre Dame cathedral and along the Seine and the renovation of the center of Nantes. In the nineties he returns to Milan and with the new studio realizes projects and architectures in Italy and in the world, becoming one of the references of a new architecture.
Italo Rota was awarded various prizes, including the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture for public spaces, the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture for culture and leisure, the Landmark Conservancy Prize, New York and the Grand Prix de l’Urbanisme, Paris.
